Dear Patients, Families, and Friends of Crawford Orthodontics,
As you know, we have been closely monitoring the recommendations for how to handle the coronavirus pandemic in our office setting and taken as many precautions as possible.
This week, Governor Mike DeWine, in tandem with the Ohio State Dental Board and Ohio Dental Association officially recommended, and eventually mandated that all non-emergency dental procedures be rescheduled, including orthodontic treatment. This is for several reasons - first for the safety of the patients and practitioners themselves, second to reduce the likelihood of the spread of COVID-19 within the community, and finally to preserve precious resources as we are learning that our hospitals may require donations of excess personal protective equipment such as the masks that we routinely wear.
The recommendation did not specify an anticipated duration, and it is likely that they were hesitant to commit to any specific amount of time. We don't know how long the recommended closure will last, but we will do our best to provide routine updates. As such, here's what you can anticipate in the coming days and perhaps weeks.
1. We will be individually contacting any patients whose appointments must be rescheduled. We will do our best to keep your treatment on track, and we plan to make adjustments to the schedule when we resume operations to be able to accommodate the larger volume of patients.
2. We will continue to see you for any emergency needs. This means that if you are in pain or discomfort, we are still here for you! We will be available by phone and will routinely check voicemail.
We thank you in advance for your understanding and support. As you know, your safety, and the safety of our families and staff members are the top priority. In addition, we are being shown through robust evidence that it truly is our civic duty to do our best to ensure the safety of all members of our community by doing our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Stay healthy! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
